I sit alone on my bed
No light enters at this hour
A quick glance out the window
The night sky covered with clouds
Raindrops gently patter against my window
Matching my tears beat for beat
As if the rain was crying with me
Trying to offer some condolence
Or even a soothing voice
But it cannot compare to yours

Oh, how I long for it
It echoes through my dreams
Dances in my head while I'm awake
And occupies every thought in between
How I pine for the soothing rhythm of your voice
For a few hours a day does no justice

I constantly dream of that day
Not so far off into the future now
Where I will see your face in person
And not just in my dreams

A crowded waiting room
People fervently searching for their loved ones
As I stand alone
Among the masses
Imitating the populace
Eyes linger on each and every face
Looking for that certain someone
Awaiting their arrival

That moment comes
I locate your face
As it expectantly searches for mine
Our eyes meet
More tears drift down my cheeks
Making my way through the hustling group

I finally reach you
A smile intermingling with tears
A hug is exchanged
As I stare into your eyes for the first time
A content sigh escapes my lips
You take them for the first time
But certainly not the last
As we slowly walk through the crowd
Hand in hand
Heading off into the rainy horizon
