Star Gazing
'I did not know you oft stared at the stars,
But pray, don't now stop because of me.
I could ne'er discipline myself to look,
But pray friend, tell me what it is you see.

All I see above us is the black,
And all I see beside me is below,
But you see all from different angles,
Pray friend, tell me what it is you know.'

'The blackness in the sky is like the heart,
the stars are simple pin-pricks in the dark,
they represent the hope that all men have,
they often help to light the inner spark.'

'Do you tell me that my heart is black?
That I need this hope to raise my head,
That the sky is like my life,
Is that what you believe, what you have said?'

'I say believe what you will, my friend
But if you truly wished to know my heart
You would listen with ears open and mind loving
you would hear the words that I impart.

I say the blackness in the sky is like the heart
The stars are simple pin-pricks in the black
They represent the hope that all will have
And strong men oft to them turn back.'
