Lone Wanderer

I am a dark, eternal shadow,
silent and adrift behind the trailblazer I follow.
Unwearied by the dullness of my existence,
ever vigilant and stable,
I walk the endless march.

I am one’s reflection,
someone who will always be there,
a reliable friend when there is no one else to turn to.
And as you pass,
I fade from the fabric of existence.

I am a drifter,
a nomad without a place to call my own.
As I wander through the realms for eternity,
I’m constantly met with kind people,
people who have lives far more intriguing then mine.

I am the face of the earth,
virtually unchanged despite the sands of time.
I stand at the crossroads of the ages,
indifferent from my surroundings,
but unique and distinctive all the same.

I am the night sky,
calm, tranquil and serene,
I am at peace.
And as I watch over the little denizens,
the world lies still - for a moment.
