Green and Blue
My friend and I walk down her street
To the forest (no fantastic feat).
We walk to a destination unknown
To me. At a tree that has grown
Slanted and sideways is where we stop,
And then we begin to climb half-way up.
We sit amid the buzzing flies,
Chirping birds, squirrels' angry cries.
We talk about life, and our futures too -
How adults have corrupted our green and blue
Planet that we will some day have to fix,
Just because few have gotten the gist
Of how precious it is to have our Earth.
Few appreciate just how much it is worth.
We slowly go back down the prestigious tree
That existed here long before us. Then we
Are once again on the empty, cold road.
What, if anything, will the future hold?
