I run along the sandy, silver shores
As the moon, the stately queen of Heaven,
Shines down upon Earth with all her glory:
Her majestic, dark smile on her pale face
And her crown of stars, the ancient, blazing fires.
All the while, her children, the sea -- salty and cold
And green in the day with envy at the cerulean sky--
Lap against the bare skin of my ankles
As if in a humble bow to the newcomer.

I slow to a calm walk with the wind--
The voiceless singer who dances upon the sea
And comes back with the scent of the archaic water.
I wonder what I'm doing there,
Silent in the blackish-blue night
Between Heaven, Earth, and Sea:
The three kingdoms separated, yet still touching.
One layer next to another next to another.
All covering an overwhelming space.

I look up at the silver lights above me,
The antediluvian queen and her crown,
And the black throne, the space on which she sits.
I wonder briefly about this black space.
It has no boundaries, no limitations.
I cannot comprehend its definitions alone.
I cannot grasp the edge of such a shape.
It is liquid, and it flows out of my reach.

I stop and gaze to the heavens above
And to the kingdoms all around me.
All of it -- so ancient I cannot guess their ages.
Each one has their own mystery or enigma or question.
I cannot even fathom an answer to any of them.
How strange it feels to be lost in it all,
To realize that you simply cannot understand everything,
To be lost in infinity.
