Older the better?
Aysta has aged herself, how will Dusty take it and will their friendship
become more intense?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hmmm, now what else did I put in that potion?" Aysta said quietly while
sitting at the base of her favorite willow tree in Greyhawk's garden.
"Ahh... Chamomile for sweetness. I remember that."
She was too busy writing in her journal to see the young man watching her
from one of the Garden's fountains.
Dusty was watching the young raven-haired female writing in a leather bound
book. "She looks so familiar... Is that Aysta?"
Dusty and Aysta were friends when Aysta was a child of seven, he was still
sixteen.
Aysta put her journal away and glanced around. She then noticed the black-
haired boy also watching her.
Dusty stood, and then made his way over to Aysta, "Aysta?" Dusty spoke,
looking at the female closely.
"Aye. And who might you be?" Aysta spoke. Dusty smiled and took off his
blue headband that matched his eyes, once he took this off his hair turned
out to fluff and look like a fuzz ball.
"Remember me?"
"Dusty? No, couldn't be, because Dusty had silver hair, not black." Aysta
said, looking a bit confused.
"Well, my hair changed back to its normal color." He ran a hand through his
hair. "Aysta, you're... um... bigger in ways." Dusty commented.
Aysta's eyes flashed and she crawled around the other side of the tree,
understanding what he was saying.
"Oh Aysta! I didn't mean it like that; I meant why you are older?"
"I did a potion to age me just a few years older." Aysta said, now watching
as Dusty came around and sat down in front of her. "How old was you aiming
at?"
Aysta sighed and looked down at her hands which were in her lap. "Twelve."
She said.
Dusty smiled, "And, how old are you now?" "Fifteen." Aysta said. Dusty
nodded.
"Why did you change yourself, Aysta?" Dusty watched her intently. Aysta
looked up at Dusty. "Because of you. I was so little and it seemed you
always over-looked me as a baby." Aysta sighed, now beginning to blush
lightly.
"I never saw you as a baby."
"I know that now."
Aysta and Dusty met a few days more, and many times a day. This night in
the Garden Dusty had something hard to say to Aysta, he was scared about
what she may do though.
They hugged first like they normally did, and then sat beneath the usual
willow tree. "Aysta, I have something to tell you but I don't know how you
will act. So, I'm scared to tell you." Dusty started.
Aysta looked up into Dusty's eyes. "Worse thing that could happen is you
telling me something horrible and I get up and walk out on you, or I never
talk to you again." Aysta said.
Dusty shivered just thinking about losing Aysta. "Okay, but if you don't
want to be my friend anymore, I understand." Dusty said, hanging his head
some.
"Worst thing you could tell me is you're dying, you have a girlfriend," she
stopped at that one for a quick second, "You're moving." She finished.
The one about Dusty seeing another female made her blood boil. "You're
right," Her heart leapt up into her throat, he then finished, "The first
one."
Aysta sighed in relief then though about it. 'Dying!' she though to
herself, then she blurted it out.
"You're not dying, you can't you look fine to me." Aysta bit her tongue to
keep quiet.
"Yes, Aysta I am."
"But... How?"
Dusty sighed and looked away from her. "The spell that aged me is coming to
a close, it will kill me."
"No!"
"Yes, Aysta."
"But there has to be a way, there is always a reason for something, and
there is always a remedy for something." Aysta replied.
"If I turned human."
"I thought you were human."
"No, Celestial."
"Oh."
Aysta looked lost and hopeless, she didn't want to loose Dusty, she liked
him a lot, always had when she was younger and she still liked him now.
"How will you become human?" Dusty shrugged, "I'll ask Asher, my brother."
Aysta nodded, having met Asher before.
"Okay." Was all she had to say after that.
A few days past without word or sight of Dusty. Aysta was worried. One
night, in the same Garden she met Dusty at, she was writing in her journal
when she heard footsteps and didn't stop writing.
"Hello Aysta, notice anything different?" Aysta blinked and looked up
slightly. "Dusty!" she yelled and jumped up to hug him.
"Where are your wings?" She asked, noticing the bare spots. "I'm human
again." Dusty said, hugging her back. "I have something for you from
Asher." They separated and he pulled out a book. "Potion things." He said.
"I know you like them."
Aysta grinned and took the book, she looked it over. "Tell him thanks." She
leaned up and kissed Dusty's cheek never had done that before she
automatically put her fingertips to her lips. "Wow, I can't do that to
Asher." Dusty joked.
Dusty watched Aysta for a long moment. "I have something else I want to
tell you." Aysta looked up at him, dreading the tone of voice he used.
"Aye?"
"If you want to run away from me after this you can, and I will
understand." Dusty began to get nervous. "Did I run out on you before?"
Aysta said smiling. "No, okay here goes." He paused. Aysta leaned forward
to hear it very clearly. "I love you."
Aysta gasped and took a step back. "How do you know what love is, Dusty?"
Aysta said, looking confused. "I don't know." Dusty said shaking his head.
'Confess now or never.' Another voice in her head was saying. "Dusty, I
like you a lot. But, I don't know what love is." "I will talk to my brother
about it." Dusty replied, Aysta just nodded.
