The Shadow

Behind every life there is a death
behind every heart there is a stone
behind every fire there is ice
behind every watches TICK there is a TOC
behind every person there is a shadow
a deep dark shadow
a shallow grey shadow
but there is a shadow
a life left behind
or still being lived
a shadow of restless evil
that dark pool beside the glimmer in an eye
the means to the end
the shadow cast
the shadow once lived
but that shadow is not dead
only dormant
asleep to the world
but it will grow restless
as do all sleeping things
once they have been all slept out
