Chapter One

Darkness fell across the town once again. The black clouds dropped their cargo onto the town below. Gale force winds beat against the sides of buildings. The trees groaning, struggling against the wind, occasionally one of their branches would snap or their roots were violently pulled from the earth, causing the tree to topple to the ground. Water rushed down the hill; on the road the drains were useless. The sky lit up as lightning flashed. The low rumble of thunder came about 3 seconds later. A tree fell down onto a car, crushing it. Glass flew out everywhere. The rain grew even heavier.
The wind picked up speed, bringing leaves and twigs into the air, against Mary's body. She stood at the hill at the bottom of the track to Exordia. She starts up the steep hill, every now and again being blown back by the wind. She thinks back to the turn of the century, only two years ago.
The sun shone upon the grass, the flowers bloomed, and a gentle breeze was present. This was Mary's second birthday. She was a singson, a race of people who only live for fourteen years. She lost her mother at the age of one and has lived with her father till then. This was a time before the Marxists came. The destroyed everything. They supposedly used the power of the Silver Star to create this world Mary lives in now. She sees her father coming towards her, calling her name. He had a birthday cake with two candles on. Her sister Mika was singing a song.
Mary reached the top off the hill, exhausted. She knocked on the doors to the houses but no one would open them, for fear that Hex, the Marxist leader would come and take them away. She was in luck though; one person was brave enough to let her in. she stayed there till the storm died down. Once the storm had died down the stranger spoke to her. "Who are you and what were you doing in that storm? Everyone knows that they mustn't go out in that," he said, very angrily. "Um, my names Mary and I'm trying to find the Silver Star, if it exists," Mary replied, very scared. "Why look for the Silver Star? Stay here with us," he offered. "I can't," was all that Mary said, in a tone that left no room for arguments.
Mary was in her room with her dad, she was three years old now and her father was telling her a story about Silver Wing and the Silver Star. "Silver Wing is the guarding of the Silver Star, an item that has enough power to destroy this world. It I said that every so often people see Silver Wing. Silver Wing is looking for someone to become the guardian of the Silver Star, someone who is pure of heart. The Silver Star was first believed to be from space, something like a shooting star that landed here but scientist now believe that it is a rare jewel from deep within our planet, and that It chose a phoenix called fire light to be its guardian. Over time it chose new guardians until it got to the current guardian, Silver Wing. Silver wing has silky silver feathers. The Silver Star has the ability to send anyone who touches it mad with greed. It turns them pure evil." While Mary's father continued to describe Silver Wing Mary started to daydream, she saw what she hoped the future would be. She saw her and Silver Wing.
"We must call a village meeting, you must not go and find the Silver Star alone." So a village meeting was called. "People this singson, believes she can find the Silver Star alone. I will pick one person to go with Mary. Mike shall be the one. Mary, Silver Wing and the Silver Star do exist. I hope you can find it and end this war." The villagers gave us food and water and a little while later they headed to the hills.
