Disguise
By Chris McGraw

I see you there looking at yourself
Tell me, what do you see?
I see a girl struggling
Self esteem is a powerful weapon
On the outside, you got it all
But on the inside you're drowning fast
Where's your support group of your friends

I see the disguise you're wearing
I see straight to your heart
You follow the leader like it's still a game
But what you're feeling is all but fun

What does it matter what others think of you?
Why can't they love you for you?
You gotta be Miss Popularity
Or at least part of the crowd
But when you're home, all alone
Who's there seeing your front?

I sat in front of my mirror
Looking past my eyes
There's a soul deep within
A longing to fit in
That's the person I really am
Late at night, when I'm all alone
That's who's left with me
With him, I'm no less real
Why should I be any less real with you?

Why can't they accept you for who you are?
