Wish Forever

the lights are fading
the shapes are shifting
neither shadow nor substance
but something unnamed,
undefined

(a single variable, floating in spatial thought, intent to)

all talk is of flowing colors
over-drama and under-acceptance
the things that people are
thinking about
every one of
these numbered seconds

(count the minutes now, you might be too far)

attention on the detail, on the
required love, refuted hate
never a focus on a something larger,
a something greater, a something
true, anything true, nothing
is quite real any
longer

(grounded below, buried your wings and tore each feather)

in all this turmoil finding is
nearly impossible, searching just
seems infinite and has become
more of a burden than freedom,
has devolved to molecules
and science, and complex terms for
what we feel so simply
what used to be
clear

(but it's so dim now and all the sense is drained from your skull)

even the stars seems to burn duller,
tired from their constant
shine, from meaning so much
to people like you, who wish for
everything and nothing

(and it seems like you could wish forever)
