Cinderella's Ashes
She sits in front of the fire
At the end of the day
After all her chores are done
Dreaming about how life could be
What she would do
If she wasn't so trapped
Trapped by circumstance
The fire glows
As if engulfed by the flames
She drifts into sleep
She dreams of a day
When her world could change
She could find her prince
And fall in love
And escape the life she has.
But just before the dream is done;
She is awoken
For yet another chore
She must leave the dream world
And return to reality,
Because when the fire burns out
All that remains of her dreams are.
