NOT TO LET HER CRY

Watch her drift
into the light
She doesn't know why she's here
but thinks it's all right
The mirror's just beyond her reach
She trips and falls in an attempt
Her eyes blink open in the water
and it's impossible to tell

Is she crying
Is it just the water
Lapping at the corners of her eyes
and making them slowly shut
I told you not to let her cry

Take a breath
She pulls away
She wants to scream out loud and yell
but her mouth has gone
The room's shutting circulation
The water rises up again
Her eyes blink open in the water
and it's impossible to tell

Is she crying
Is it just the water
Lapping at the corners of her eyes
and making them slowly shut
I told you not to let her cry

I told you not to let her cry
Look what you've caused now
The rain's falling down the windows
and I don't know
when if it'll ever stop
