The day I really knew I had a friend.

About six years ago, I had just started a new school. I was in year three. I spent four years at the school. The first year I was there, no one wanted to talk to me. I used to spend every break time walking round the edge of the playground. That was the worst two years because I had no one to tell my feelings to. I think one of the reasons was that they couldn't pronounce my name. I was a total loser. A year on, and I was about eight and in year five. I remember it really well because it was the happiest day I've ever had for two long years. It was a very hot sunny day, everyone went out to the playground. I was doing my usual break time stroll when a girl from the year above me came up to me and introduced herself to me. Her name was Laura. She had a younger brother and an older sister two years above her. After about a month, we became very good friends. After my summer holiday I went back to school to find Laura ignoring me. She was hanging out with other girls the same age as her. When ever she walked past I'd try to say hello but she just ignored me again. When she was away from her other friends she would talk a little bit. As soon as her other friends would come she would ignore me. I gave up trying to be friends with her. I made friends with five different girls. Emily, Anabel, Francesca, Ashley and Elizabeth. Emily and Anabel had known each other since they were about five. My new best friend was Francesca. We told each other everything. I stayed round her house a couple of time but I used to cry because I was always homesick. I hate being homesick. It annoys everyone. Francesca used to come round my house more than I went round hers. My fourth year at my school as the greatest.(Apart from me coming home with a scratched face and bruises here and there from fighting Lewis's ex-girlfriend who bullies him.) I spent nearly every break time keeping her away from Lewis. That was the worst two months of my life. When I was pulled out of school I was so happy. I wouldn't come home each night with a new cut or bruise. I thought it would be fun. It was for a while, until work got harder. I did a project about owls with Lewis. Mum and Dad took Lewis and I out to learn about things to do with our project. We moved house and carried on with the usual work until Mum and Dad hired a tutor. She taught us maths mainly and occasionally a bit of English while we carried on with the work mum set us. We did Art, English, history and projects with Mum. Mum would set us some work on a piece of paper and talk to us making sure we understood it all. I didn't talk to anyone from school. About two years later I was still out of school. I didn't have any friends my age. I wanted to see everyone I knew from school but nearly everyone had moved and had left school too. I still had Anabel's address and luckily she still lived there. I found her really annoying so I didn't talk to her. Fiona took Lewis and I to a Christian place called Gaines B. I was in a dorm with five other girls and I became friends with them all and the dorm next door. Out of eleven I write to six of them. The one I write to the most is Lucy. She is my best friend in the universe. I don't think I'd live if she went. I write to her telling her my problems I send her the occasional present. She does too. When I'm sad, she always cheers me up. We help each other and that's the day I really knew I had a friend. A friend is always there for you, to help you through tough times and to keep you company like Lucy does for me.
