There once was a man
with no future or past.
He seemed only to exist
to make each moment last.
He didn't ask much
of those who knew him by name;
he wanted only to be left alone
with his personal shame.

Hey Mr. Catalyst,
do you know what you've done?
Oh Mr. Catalyst,
you've made it all come undone!
Mr. Catalyst
don't come around here no more--
'Cause Mr. Catalyst knows
that if he comes around here,
they won't wait another moment
to make him disappear!

He meant no trouble,
didn't mean to cause a fight,
but every time he came around
hot tempers would ignite.
He wanted no part
in their personal shit,
yet every time they saw his face,
their problems they'd transmit.

He couldn't stop
their minds' and hearts' burn;
no more could anyone expect
the world cease to turn.
He couldn't control
what he didn't mean to start--
he tried his best to keep it in,
but it all fell apart.

Hey Mr. Catalyst,
do you know what you've done?
Oh Mr. Catalyst,
you've made it all come undone!
Mr. Catalyst
don't come around here no more--
'Cause Mr. Catalyst knows
that if he comes around here,
they won't wait another moment
to make him disappear!

He wanted a chance
to have something more whole
than the sort of life that he
was accustomed to feel---
but no one gives a damn about
a man who isn't real.

Hey Mr. Catalyst,
do you know what you've done?
Oh Mr. Catalyst,
you've made it all come undone!
Mr. Catalyst
don't come around here no more--
'Cause Mr. Catalyst knows
that if he comes around here,
they won't wait another moment
to make him disappear!

Hey Mr. Catalyst,
do you know what you've done?
Oh Mr. Catalyst,
you've made it all come undone!
Mr. Catalyst
don't come around here no more--
'Cause Mr. Catalyst knows
that if he comes around here,
they won't wait another moment
to make him disappear...
