De-loved

       The first thing that spoke to me was your smile
       All open and warm, it reminded me of
A sun-filled sky

       O those laughs that we shared; the secrets we knew
       Of the other as well as about ourselves
Close to dusk

       Your touches were mine, and your secret smiles, too
       Those breathy whispers as night creeps close;
Sunbeams fade

       But those smiles faded, too, and the light grew dim
       As the colours of our days blurred into a blotty grey
Like your heart

       When it came to pass that your heart turned ice-cold
       I will possibly never know, nor will I ask
After dark

       Now eternal night is settling all around
       And with any spark gone, I cannot help but feel
De-loved.
