What is that one thing called?
What keeps our souls alive?
Small but very powerful
Its name we know as ‘drive’

The fire that lights us up
Inspires us to be
Constantly competing
With others that we see

Forcing us to stand up straight
We reach, therefore, are tall
Rushing onward, forward
There is no time to crawl

Never a minute to wait
Nor a stray second to spare
It keeps us rushing around
From over here to there

Further down the trail
Success will be found
But in a symphony
The frail note will drown

Kept in check by others
Whose drives are far stronger
We stretch up higher to compare
Which one of us is longer

‘Is it jealousy?’ you wonder
‘No, not possibly!
There is no reason for it
Just you wait and see!’

I’ll work harder than before
Just to be the best
Then I can relax there
Finally, taking a rest

Strange how such a word
Inspiring to all
Is brought from insecurity
And a fear to fall…

A/N: Wow, that was what came out in about 8 minutes after not writing anything but school papers for a couple weeks! Very random and strange, but oh well ~ nothing else to post!
