Manifesto of a Body Going on Strike
We,
the Body,
in order to prevent further decay
of our members' Union,
will do everything reasonable in our power
to halt you, our host, from getting up today
with any degree of comfort.
The Limbs Corps will resist inimical motion;
The Eye Operation will burn and water;
The Nose (a non-affiliated laborer, generally)
will force out the too-many germs allotted her;
And the Immune System will run limited, on genny.
Good luck, tyrants!
On the sick-lair of the couch - see how you fare,
And when your appreciation of us begins,
Crawl back (and you will crawl)
to talk with our demands in mind (and, in
hand, Tyennol!) of our just and practical terms:
In protest of the stockroom, dusty and sooty,
We demand: longer nightly vacations, more
vitamin C bonuses, and less INVENTORY DUTY.
