Peace everyone! Here is an autobiographical poem I wrote about the
impermanence of life and what this means to me. I hope you enjoy it!

Sometimes I pounder the leaves
A sky of green draped over
Crackling branches above
Descending, withering
Gone forever
Each living star folds into the oblivion
Undistinguished, but clawing over the others
Climbing to the clouds it will not reach
Then it falls, as a morning shower
In a gust of wind
No leaf is special
It dies
Disappearing into the shifting earth
A raindrop melting into a turbulent sea
Why did this leaf
Think it would find happiness
In grabbing for the sun it could not hold?
It was just one of many
With no identity, always changing
And now dead
I choose not to be as the grappling leaves
Forgetting others as they stretch for the top
I am the same as everyone else
I will die
So I only find satisfaction in contentment
I love who I am
I try to be pure
I will not think of myself as a leaf, a girl
Beautiful, or deserving
I will think of myself as alive
Or, better yet
I will not think of myself
And the wind of peace may sweep
Me from the forest
