Lend me no immortal years,

No eternity to waste away.

No rebirth to this world of tears,

No perfection is worth the stay.

Immortal flesh gives me no charm,

No comfort of conclusion.

Rather, give me just one life to live,

To see all I can,

No more, no less.

Never knowing when Death shall call.

And when I pass,

May I be said to have died advancing with sails unfurled,

            Just living.

Rather than lying listing and derelict,

            Just waiting.

Just let me live out all my joss,

To do any less would be immortal loss.
