They said I would not grow much today.

They said I would not grow much until next year, be patient.

            I didn’t believe them.

I told them I would grow a foot by next month and they laughed.

So I stretched

            and stretched

                        and stretched,

every day for a month.

And I had barely grown an inch.

They laughed.

They laughed as I cried.

They laughed

When I said I would grow five inches in two months,

            and ignored me.

So I stretched

            and stretched

                        and stretched

for one month,

and cried

            and waited

                        and cried

for the next.

They didn’t laugh.

They said, “I told you.”

They said I would not grow much until next year, be patient.

            I believed them.

A tree always has to be patient.

A/N:  I scribbled this down in one of my more boring classes last year, and I just found it a few days ago.  I like it, it’s fun; but if you don’t like it, that’s fine too.  It’s poorly written and not very good, but the life lesson in important.
