A love to span a Millennia-
By: Asha M. Night
Chapter 1-Returning home
She stood at the edge of the cliff over looking the ocean, wondering
should she literally take the plunge. "Don't do it," her lover said as he
stood at her back.
"But I must, my family will not accept you as my lover and as the one I
want for the rest of my life. I must, leave me to my fate."
"Don't jump Amara. I love you and you know that. Don't let our
differences push you literally off that cliff. You cannot listen to them.
They speak falseness." She turns around and walks to her lover.
"But Diego, what of our life together, how can we make it work. I will be
banished if we continue this affair. You heard what they said and they will
burn you if you step one foot inside the palace. I do not want that to
befall you. I love you too much. Besides, our baby will need it's father.
And I do not want to fall in love again. I love you. Please hold me close,
lest I change my mind."
He pulls her to his tan chest stroking her blonde hair. "Do not cry
Amara. I am here and soon you will need to return home. You need to be able
to provide for our child. Please, you can and will move on, our child will
need the money and your parents funds will do nicely. I will be fine. Just
please, go back to your family."
"But Diego, I will not leave you to lust for me and miss the love we'd
shared. I cannot do that to you. I love you and we can make it if we try,
you can find work. Your craftsmanship is exquisite. We can make it by."
"Amara, that is not possible. You need to go back with your family, now
go. Leave on my best horse." He says, whistling for it to come. "Take
Ashima and ride back into town. Your family has probably been worrying
about you. And it will do them good to see your face. Now go." He says as
he helps her onto the horse, pulling the hood onto her head. I will follow
until you are in the clear. I love you, so please go." He swats the horse,
sending her racing into the forest notorious for its bandits. He pulls
himself on another horse, Athenasia. He uses his heels to spur the horse
into motion, quickly catching up with his lover.
He stops her before they hit the walled town and pulls her off of the
horse. He brings her head to his and kisses her before he tells her he must
go no farther. "I love you," he tells her.
"I love you too Diego. Run away with me. Please, I do not want to go on
without you. I love you too much to let you leave like this."
"Do not worry, I will watch you as the years go by. But do not look for
me, if you love me you will not look for me. And please do not tell our
child about their father. Please, they will ask too many questions." He
kisses her again before placing her atop the horse. He swats it sending her
to the gate of the town.
