A Sudden Sensation
This was a new feeling. Not unpleasant by any means but new and unfamiliar and that made me slightly uncomfortable.
I felt short of breath and my heart was racing in my chest and yet I hadn’t gone anywhere.
I felt hot and cold at the same time, goosebumps on my arms and a flushed face.
No matter how often I swallowed or licked my lips, my mouth felt dry.
I was sure I was shaking even though I felt as if my feet had grown roots and that I couldn’t move even if I wanted to.
My stomach felt full of butterflies or birds or something else that would cause such a tingling and fluttering sensation.
I felt like singing at the top of my voice, shouting to the heavens about this feeling and sharing it with the world. However, I doubted my voice would be little more then a whisper if I tried to.
The feeling had come on so suddenly and without warning, perhaps it would go away again just as quickly. But did I really want it to go…?
I felt nervous, true, but I had never felt so exhilarated in my entire life.
My eyes were threatening to cry while my mouth was covered in the biggest and brightest of smiles.
Suddenly it felt as if all of these amazing feelings had intensified again.
A million lightning bolts had tickled my skin, running riot across my body.
Then a wave of calm followed and for a brief and worrying moment, I thought it had all passed. That it was over.
Then the tingling, exciting feeling that at any moment I would turn into a hundred thousand sparks of delicious happiness returned.
Was I sick…? Maybe it was madness…?
You smiled at me again and I sighed with relief.
I knew what it was…
It was love.
