You Smile

Hide in a cupboard and cover your face
free of dust and adorned with lace
breathe not an ill word, make not a mark
locked in with your secrets, alone in the dark
you smile.

Perfect features, so alluring
but the door's glass is obscuring
for they open and they see
the very smirk that's haunting me.

There's a fracture in the porcelain
and to touch it is to bleed

you smile.
