Paint the sky crimson
Then fade to black,
Another day has gone.

It finally passed by
And she wonders why
She’s still alone.
It’s been like this for a while
She remembers
How she used to smile
Just silly memories,
Of being a child
Running ‘round wild
Free of the burden
Responsibility.

Now it sits on her shoulders
As she returns home
She slumps on her bed
And picks up the phone
It lies ‘off’ in her hand
Like the times between
Making weekend plans
The phone constantly rang
Her friends would always call
But each disappeared
Fading until all
Were gone.
Leaving her on a pedestal,
In a shiny glass case
Apart from the world
A far away place,
She’s untouchable.
She’s damn untouchable.

Her scattered friends,
Acquaintances now
Have settled down
Most likely in another place,
For sure, not alone
Living happy, content lives
After all of the trauma,
All of the lies,
She found the world was unfair.
Then vowed to stand tall
Proud, honest, intelligent
Modest, faithful, loyal
Soar towards the sun
And leave safety, the soil

It was such a beautiful dream.

Needless to say,
Ideals crashed down
A sugar sweet face
Soured with a frown
Stress shows
Through her chocolate orbs
If you peer down deep
She wants to weep
But more than that,
She longs to sleep.

Hoping to visit
Lovely dreams in her head
And as always
They flitter away
Dancing off into the sky.
Drifting up high
And filling the heavens
Like stars.
Can you number the stars?
Or keep track of all?
Why is it beautiful,
Watching them fall?
But they sparkle with distant hope,
An inkling of a promise
In a desolate land.

She tried to escape so
Who would have guessed
That one so blessed
Would take to the sky
And be recognized
From afar, not up close
Surely feared by most
So picture perfect,
Untouchable.

You would never guess
She has a problem
Her will steers direction
And it is strong,
But not so powerful as need
To rise up, achieve, succeed!
But the wind blows her along
And she grows weary
Too tired to fight it.

It’s a relief she can sleep,
Lie down and dream.
Wish the night away.
