CAUSTIC WITNESS

The statues washed from yesteryear
Stare down the present commodities
Of this arena or what not,

Some icons, slogans,
Written in stone, witnesses borne.
Plated in gold.
To stand tuned in time, attested.
Bubble quarter busted around and
Soar under violent weather of all kinds.
Inscribed hard lines trace the shoulder of a
Crouching sphinx with the wings of an angel
Gazing in silence. Its seasonal recitation
Comes by the living Elite.
What was written has said and been.
Looks down on the marketers to and fro
Hides above, still waits a heart of flesh.
