Fractured Window

I scream
Throw a glass
Watch it smash
I can see myself
In every see-through fragment
I’m just glass
So easy to break
Shatter into a million pieces
And even when they’re stuck back together
There are little cracks
Evidence of something lost
That comes with such a cost
Never quite be complete
Always fragmented
Because after a while
After one too many throws
The pieces can’t be put back together
They’re not shards
They’re sand
I’m sand
And I’m washed under
Swallowed by it
Consumed in it
Recreated through it
Through this pain
I’m built up again
Reconstructed
Into a poor intimation
Left incomplete
Through the process

I scream
Throw a glass
Watch it smash
And collapse in tears
My soul gets closer to escaping
As another shard drops
A shard from my glass eyes
