AN: Old story, newly re-edited and posted. Used to be called This Is One High School. Hope you like.

One of Those Days

A young brown haired woman hurtled through the black gates of the Joan Anne High School soaking wet. She dashed up the grand steps and into the brick building. Can't be late. Her brother had stolen her alarm clock that morning and, after yelling at him for a full five minutes, had succeeded in making her miss the bus.

Wet hair struck her face as she flew down the halls. Her first class waited on the second floor in room 209. Bounding up the steps, she paused to catch her breath. The girl took in two deep breaths before turning the corner with the same speed as before.

A raven haired youth trudged gloomily through the halls. Thunder crashed outside the window and the rain splattered against the pane. Perfect. He loved the rain. The unruly adolescent checked into his first class staying a resounding ten minutes before the teacher got sick of his rude comments, chair tipping, and sopping wet clothes. (He’d stood in the rain prior to class.) To the office, he was sent.

Or at least that's where he was supposed to go. Seeing the principal just wasn’t in his plan today. Nope, he’d be outside until the bell rang. Then, he'd go to his second class. Maybe. If he felt like it.

He padded stiffly down the halls barely making a sound. Almost there…or so he thought. Suddenly, a flash of blue leaped out from around the corner catching him off guard. Having zero time for reaction, the boy let the person crash into him. Hard.

He tumbled to the floor while the girl managed to half-jump, half-stumble over him. In a flash, the boy stood up and over her with a most unpleasant frown gracing his features. The young woman was surprised. Not that she had expected him to be happy, but she had expected him to be considerate. Neither happiness nor consideration spouted from this boy’s mouth.

"Geez! What's your problem?!"

Following this, the boy let loose a few snide comments before taking in another breath. The girl leaped at this opening and, jumping to her feet, prepared to let out woman’s fury on this diluted relative of Adam when, unexpectedly, the school's officer turned the corner.

"Hey, you!" The cop called at them.

The boy turned to the officer with a look of sheer displeasure and cursed his luck. Leaning against the lockers, he asked what he’d done. The girl watched with a bit of amusement as the officer stormed up to the boy grabbing him by the arm. "Alex Falcon, you have in-school detention for cutting classes."

A feigned ‘Whoopee!’ came from Alex and the officer turned to the girl. "You,” he said glancing at her vest, “Miss Carrie, are coming with me.” And he dragged them both away. Alex glared at Carrie as she heaved a sigh. This was going to be one of those days.
