Yesterday,
She woke him with a kiss.
Ten minutes before the alarm--
There was time yet.
He woke up smiling,
Kissed her back,
Whispered “I love you”,
And left.
She was disappointed,
But didn't start to cry until
Today,
After Last Night,
When he took her out to dinner
And told her he loved her again.
After Last NIght,
When she realized
She didn't want this,
When she screamed “No!” in her head
As she answered him, “Yes”.
So today,
She stares at the wall,
Where a small band of light is reflected;
She stares through her tears
And wonders, silently,
if she shall ever have anything more.
