Scared to walk through these unclaimed streets
Without someone to accompany me.
You changed, just like leaves in the fall.
You fell to the ground with a new color,
But were absent mindedly stepped on quite a few times.
And some of you was lost in the wreckage.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
Pieces of the old you dead because time has changed.

And the only reason why I don't miss you now...
Is because you've been lifeless to me for oh-so long.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust...either way it's all the same.
Someone to call a "best friend"
...you live your life without me,
So I choose to forget your existence.
Though you'll always be in the back of my mind.
Our friendship engraved on a tombstone.

I find that it doesn't affect you
When I'm not around to say that I care
You have others that will back you up
Others you can use for your own guilty pleasure.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
Burying you under six feet
Of broken promises.
