Disclaimer: I own this poem, and it comes entirely from my imagination. If this poem sounds like any other, it is purely coincidental.

Authors Note: I submit my first poem for you to read. Please note that this is rated ‘PG’ for a reason: if mentions of hunting, death and killing offend you, don’t read it. For the people who do read it please review when you’re finished.

Hunting

Rushing, rushing

Blood pumping

Heart racing

Fear

So great I know you can smell it

Exciting you

Wanting a taste

Running, keep running

Legs hitting the ground

Like battering rams

Ground, please swallow me

Hide me

From the nightmare

Closer, closer

You follow

Hunting me

I know what images flood your mind

The blood, the flesh

My flesh

The flesh you want

Blood dripping on the ground

Spluttering from wounds

Meat dangling from your teeth

The look of ecstatic delight

That lies upon your face

Hunting me

The chase is half the fun

Knowing the terror in

Your victim’s heart

In my heart

The mindless terror

Forcing me to keep running

Whilst you pound away behind

Smiling that horrifying smile

Keep running

My heart is going so fast

One long beat

My throat is filled with sand

My face lined with blood and tears

Sweat running down my body

Like a river

The knowledge

The fact that I’m going to die

Hits me

Worse than you

I slow my fight

Sobbing

That terrible smile shines upon me

You smile gently

Like my mother

Holding her baby

Before gracefully descending

Upon me
