The adrenaline is rushing through me. The music is blaring all across the room. The strobe light is pulsing continuously without stop.
Everyone is dansing...
There’s a difference between dancing, and dansing.
When a person dances, they are following predetermined steps to go along with the music.
When you danse, you follow your body’s interpretation of the song. You don’t care if you look stupid, your just absorbing the core elements of the music and allowing it to take over your body.
In a sense, you’re possessed, yet completely aware of what’s going on.
What makes dansing great is that it is not mainstream.
The Danse cannot exist in the mainstream; people are too preoccupied with “looking good on the dance floor”.
In the underground though, The Danse is what we live by.
We are there not to look good in front of others, but to enjoy the show.
The music calls to us.
We go through the same continuous cycle everyday; Wake up, Work, Sleep.
We must abide by societies rules in order to carve out a living, but they cannot have us.
When the show comes to town we get our tickets and wait anxiously. This is what we have been waiting for, a release.
With all of us together in one room, The Danse builds up, growing ever stronger, but it is not released yet, no, it needs a “key” in order to be released.
That key is the band. When they hit the stage, The Danse comes rushing in.
All at once we are overtaken by this intense feeling of euphoria, one that no drug could ever hope to reach.
When the shows over, we’re all gasping for air, and covered n a fin layer of sweat. We grab a bottle of water and chug it down like it’s our last.
We head our separate ways into the night, each of us taking a piece of the Danse with us, eagerly awaiting the next show.
