my mouth keeps
going dry while i wonder
how long it takes for this to go
away.

i'm searching through all
my drawers and backlogs
of slightly offkilter
personality - where'd
i lose my smile?
(reward: holdmelovemebethere
times one thousand
if you find it.)
or maybe you could
donate a few
of your own; a small offering
for the broken
but really all i need is

the feel of your back
warming the palm of my hand
my neck clotheslined by your
shoulders
while i desperately try to
blueprint the scent
of your hug
