Inseparable?

Chapter one

Jerry and Fred were the best of friends and had known each other since they were born. They were born at the same time and in the same hospital in the beds next to each other. Jerry was premature and had spent that first three months of his life in the care of three nurses where as Fred was allowed home soon after his mother felt better. That was the longest time Jerry and Fred were away from each other.

Jerry and Fred went to the same school and did everything as a team and got high marks because they enjoyed working together and they both had some very interesting ideas that one another liked.

They were so close that one day Jerry got out his Dads penknife and cut open Fred finger and then his and then they placed then together. "Now we are brothers." Said Jerry. They hugged each other as their mothers walked in and noticed blood on the carpet. "What have you two done?" Screamed Jerry's mother rushing forward. "My new carpet!" Shrieked Fred's mother running out to the kitchen for the stain remover. Fred and Jerry were grounded for a month but they knew they would see each other in school tomorrow and by the end of the week their mothers would of forgotten about the punishment and then they could spend the week end together. Sure enough, the week passed and by the end of the week Jerry and Fred's mums had forgotten they had grounded them.

They spent most of their time building forts and playing solders until Jerry had to go home then her would beg his mum to let him stay the night. Most of the time Jerry stayed round Fred's because Fred had a fear of going out round peoples houses and would cry himself to sleep which made Jerry feel really bad because he would try everything to put his mind off it all but nothing seemed to work. They would watch films until bed time then Fred would start crying saying he wanted to go home.

Jerry wanted to get him over the fear so he asked his mum to come with him and his parents to Florida for a week. Fred's mum made him go and managed to block out the howling he did when the day he had to leave came. She shoved him in his seat and did up the belt and kissed him gently goodbye and told him to be good then moved out the way for Jerry to get into the car where he sat happily next to Fred who was sniffing quietly. Jerry took Fred's hand and told him he would be fine. The car started and pulled out the drive. Jerry turned as far round in his seat and looked out the back window. Fred turned round too and noticed Jerry's mum and dad waving goodbye. We waved back and shouted bye thinking they could really hear them over the main roads rush of cars and lorries rushing past.

During their fantastic week in Florida, Fred gradually felt a lot better. The first two days he was always sad but by the end of the week he was absolutely fine when bed time came round. He would be in bed before Jerry waiting to play some games before the actually went to sleep. (There usual ritual!)

Most people thought they were brothers and they acted like it too until on fateful day.

Years later Fred and Jerry were both 15 and it was less than a week before their 16 th birthday and both were getting really excited about it. There mums had planned a huge birthday party for them and told Jerry and Fred to invite as many people as they wanted. Fred and Jerry went round the school talking to everyone about the party and inviting them. "Hey Sally! How's you and David? Things going ok?" Said Jerry running up to a girl with long blonde hair and freckles. "Yeah. We had a fight last night but he said sorry this morning so yeah we are cool. I hear your having a party this weekend." Said Sally looking through her locker as she spoke. "Yeah. Do you want to come?" Said Fred. "David's welcome too." Said Jerry walking up to them. "Ok. Yeah! I'll see you there then. I better go now. I'm going to be late for Alice and Susan. Were about to have lunch. See you two later. I'll call you tonight. Bye!" Said Sally. "Bye Sally." Said Fred. "Bye Sally. Invite Alice and Susan too!" Said Jerry as she reached the end of the corridor. She turned round and smiled at them both. Jerry blushed and Fred turned round to talk to someone else. Jerry stood there in a daze thinking about Sally and her glasses that magnify her beautiful green eyes. "Fred man!" Came a shriek from behind him. He turned to see the most popular guy in school Dominic talking to Fred. "All right Dominic? What's happening?" Said Jerry coming back to Fred after inviting two people to the party. "I heard you got a party this weekend. Cool." Said Dominic. "Yeah. You can come if you want man." Said Jerry doing all the talking while Fred stood there looking at Dominic's brown silky hair that was styled into its usual spiky mess with bleached ends. "What?" Said Dominic looking at Fred. "Nothing. I was thinking how you did your hair. I might get mine done." Said Jerry looking in to Dominic's brown puppy eyes. "Yeah. Really cool isn't it. Chicks love it." Said Dominic jumping at the chance to show off. "Cool. I want it done before the party. I'll so get laid." Said Jerry. "Well see you later. I'm on my way to lunch. See you at the party dudes." Said Dominic walking off. "How cool is that man!! The coolest guy in the whole school is coming to our party!" Said Fred. "Yeah." Said Jerry. Fred secretly knew that Jerry had a crush on Sally but he didn't want to talk about it because he was going through the same thing although he hoped no one knew. "Come on man. Lets get lunch. There's probably loads of people we can invite in there." Said Fred pushing Jerry slightly. Jerry looked at him and smiled and said, "Come on then." They walked to the lunch hall talking about the game that had been released a few days before. "I hope I get it as a present. I cant afford to get it." Said Jerry. "I know what you mean." Said Fred. The grabbed there food after waiting in line talking to all three of the the computer nerds and inviting them to the party they sat down at a table next to the window which looked out on the playground that was full of the juniors running around playing there games and having fun. "Can we sit here?" Came a squeaky voice from next to Jerry. He looked round to see the computer nerds holding their lunches. "Yeah sure." Said Jerry moving up to give them some room. "Thanks." Said another nerd followed by a mouthful of saliva onto his meal. "You should try and find someone to help you with your lisp James." Said Fred talking to the nerd who was now eating his saliva covered meal. Jerry looked away in disgust and caught eyes with Sally who smiled at him and giggled to her friends. Who then looked round and smiled at him too. "Hey Jerry man! The fairy's take you man?" Said Fred shaking him. "What?" Said Jerry waking up from his daydream of Sally riding a horse on a beautiful summers day. The nerds started talking about the new macintosh XP 04 which was at the time a very powerful computer. "You ok man? Your acting a bit odd. Has your dad hit you again?" Asked Fred quietly. "No. I'm fine really. Just a lot on my mind. I'm really excited about the party." Said Jerry. "How's your stomach since your last encounter with your dads foot?" Said Fred keeping his voice down. "Its ok. Still cant keep most things down but I'm on the mend. I hope." Said Jerry. "You know where i am if you need anything. If he lays another finger on you I'll kill him." Said Fred. "Calm down. He's away for the week. He's cheating on my mum again which means his usual excuse is he's staying over his mates from work." Said Jerry. "Does your mum know?" Said Fred. "Yeah but she's too freaked out to say anything after last time." Said Jerry. "I see what you mean. I would never of thought your dad could be so violent. Throwing stuff at the wall fine but hitting your mum with a pole is not right." Said Fred. Yeah. I walked in to the kitchen and she was lying on the floor covered in blood. No one should ever see that." Said Jerry looking down as his eyes filled with tears. "Its ok man." Said Fred hugging him. "Your such a good friend and I hope you never change." Said Jerry wiping the tears from his eyes. "You finished?" Said Fred. "Yeah." Said Jerry getting up. "I'll see you guys later. Email me tonight about the party." Said Fred to the nerds who were asking each other how the m was to download stuff was.

Fred and Jerry walked out of the lunch hall and went and sat outside in the sun on the grass before their next lesson started. "This weekend is going to be so cool." Said Fred putting Jerry's mind off his family. "Yeah. Loads of chicks there too." Said turned over onto his stomach as the bell rang. "Lesson. Fun." Said Fred Sarcastically. Jerry laughed. "Come on, we're going to be late." Said Jerry. They hurried to class and just made it in time. They sat down just as the teacher came in and started talking a load of garbage about English. Fred didn't pay attention. He was thinking about his secret and how he could reveal it. Jerry wasn't paying attention either. He was thinking about Sally. He stated drawing on his note pad a vision of her he kept on having. "JERRY!" Screamed the teacher. "Yes miss?" Said Jerry. "What did I just say?" Said the teacher. Jerry looked swiftly at the black board and read off what she had written. "Well?" Said the teacher walking quickly up to his desk. "You were explaining the difference between words that sound the same but are spelt differently." Said Jerry. "Smart ass." Muttered the teacher walking back to the front of the room. The lesson continued as boring as ever and most people were looking at the clock wishing the lesson would finish. When it did eventually finish everyone rushed out of the classroom and out into the hall where most people started talking to Jerry and Fred about the party. "Jerry man. Why wasn't I invited to the party?" Asked a tall thin boy with very bad acne. "Hey Keith. Acne's getting better." Said Jerry. "Yeah yeah enough with the girl talk. Why wasn't i invited to your party?" Said Keith. "I haven't seen you all week. I would of invited you but you have been skipping school and hanging around the skate park with Daniel and Paul." Said Jerry. "Yeah. That's no excuse. You knew I was there. Why didn't you come and invite me while all the losers are in lessons?" Said Keith. "Because i only found out today that you were there and by then I was already in my lesson and i wasn't prepared to run around." Said Jerry. "Well invite me now." Said Keith. "No." Said Jerry bluntly. "What! You little..." Said Keith grabbing Jerry's collar but was soon cut off by Jerry's huge punch in the jaw. "AAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Screamed Keith falling to the floor in pain. Fred grabbed Jerry arm made a run for it. They reached the boy's toilets Fred locked the door and turned to face Jerry who was still in shock. "You ok man?" Asked Fred rubbing Jerry's back. "I don't know. Should I be ok?" Said Jerry. "Yes. Dude, you just punched Keith, the worst bully ever, in the face. How cool is that? Your the first person to do that and your going to be so popular." Said Fred smiling. "I'm glad I did that. But I feel guilty." Said Jerry. "Why? He was about to bat you up for no inviting him to your party. He really deserved that punch man." Said Fred. "Yeah. Your right. I just hope he doesn't come after me." Said Jerry. "Well if he does, be ready with your fists of thunder." Said Fred smiling. Jerry and Fred hugged as the bathroom door banged. "Its him man! What do I do?!" Said Jerry diving under one of the sinks. "Come on man. Get the door with me. If he wants a fight we'll give him one Yeah?" Said Fred walking to the door and getting ready to unlock it. Jerry came out from under the sink and stood next to Fred at the door with tensed fists. "Ready? One...two...three" Said Fred pulling the door open after he unlocked it. To Jerry's and Fred's amazement. Keith wasn't there. All the kids in the school who were being bullied were standing there screaming at how wonderfully brave he was. "Look!" Screamed a girl, "It's Jerry and his best friend Fred!" All the girls started screaming. "Blooming heck!" Said Fred closing the door again. "What are we going to do? We're trapped by me obsessed morons!" Said Jerry. "Hmm." Said Fred looking round thinking. "Got it. We'll go out the window." "Brilliant." Said Jerry rushing to the largest window. "Give me a leg up." Said Jerry. "Wouldn't it be easier with a chair?" Said Fred dragging a bench up to the window. "Gave us a hand." Said Jerry struggling to unlock the window. They both pushed the bar which eventually gave way. They pulled the window open and jumped out to find the computer nerds standing there looking at them. "What?" Said Jerry brushing himself off. "All right guys." Asked Fred. "Yes. We were about to tap on the window to help you out but you seem to be well ahead of us." Said James to Fred. "Man you got to swallow before you talk." Said Fred grabbing a tissue that another nerd had held out to him to wipe his shirt with. "I do." Said James, "Sorry." They heard a boor being bashed. "Quick!" Said Jerry, " They're trying to break the door down!" All of them ran round the car park and over the football field until they came to the secret hiding place of the nerds headquarters that was surrounded by nerds waiting to get in. "Quick! The back door!" Said James wiping his mouth. They ran round the back and tapped three times on the door which soon opened. "Why are you using the back door?" Asked the Nerd's leader who was called Sam. "We are hiding from idiots. And by the time we were in here they would of found us and formed a very large and noisy crowd outside banging on the door screaming. Ok?!" Said James followed by the usual mouthful of saliva. "Ok. Come on in and sit down." Said Sam wiping himself off. "What's the time man?" Asked Fred. "Half five." Said Jerry looking at his mobile phone. "Shall we make a run for it and go home?" Said Fred. "Yeah." Said Jerry eagerly as the door started to bang. "Don't answer it." Said Fred in a frantic whisper. One of the nerds looked through a peep hole in the door and was stunned by the amount of people outside. "Go out the back. We'll distract them! Run!" Whispered Sam to Fred and Jerry. "Cheers dude." Said Jerry and Fred as the quietly went out the back door as fast as they could and then ran across the football pitch and finally out on the the road which they followed for about half a mile until they came to their street. "Do you want to come over mine?" Asked Fred. "Yeah. Best not to go home just in case the mob finds us!" Said Jerry panting. Fred smiled and Jerry who smiled back. "All in all its been a pretty popular day." Laughed Fred. "Yeah." Said Jerry as they approached Fred's house. "Hi mum! I'm home. I've brought Jerry over. Hope that's ok." Shouted Fred as they walked in thought the front door. "Close the door Jerry." Said Fred mum who was cooking the families dinner. "What's for dinner mum?" Asked Fred. "Home made pie. I thought it would be a nice change." Said Fred mum. "HI Suzanne. How are you?" Said Jerry politely. "Fine thank you dear." Said Suzanne wiping the flour off her hands as she reached for the oven gloves and removed a pie from the oven. "That looks nice mum. We're going upstairs now. I'll talk to you later." Said Fred pulling Jerry by the arm. "Later Suzanne." Said Jerry. Suzanne carried on cooking while Jerry and Fred ran up the stairs and into Fred's room that had obviously been cleaned by his mum because Fred was a messy person and hated cleaning his room. "Your mum gave in and cleaned your room then?" Said Jerry. "Always does, It gets too messy for her to handle!" Joked Fred turning on his computer and sitting down. Jerry pulled up a chair and sat next to him. "What do you want to do?" Asked Jerry. "I need to check my email then we can surf the net for new music if you want." Said Fred. "Sounds cool." Said Jerry, "Can I check mine please?" "Yeah sure." Said Fred typing in his password. "You didn't make me look away." Said Jerry. "Yeah. Because I trust you." Said Fred. Jerry smiled, " Hey look! You've got an email from Alice."Said Jerry. "Oh well." Said Fred opening a different email up. "I thought you liked her." Said Jerry. "No. She's...not my type." Said Fred ignoring Alice's email and reading through the another email. "How come she's not you type?" Asked Jerry. "She's just not. I don't find her attractive that's all." Said Fred shuffling uncomfortably on his chair. "You ok man?" Said Jerry noticing how awkward Fred was feeling. "Get off my back would you!" Shouted Fred. Jerry was stunned. Fred had never shouted a him before. "I think I might go home now." Said Jerry quietly getting up and grabbing his bag and leaving, "I'll see you later man." He said on his way out. "Bye Suzanne." Said Jerry with wet eyes. "Jerry. You ok?" Asked Suzanne but Jerry didn't say anything he just walked out of the house and went a few doors down to his house.

Jerry went up to his room and collapsed on his bed and laid there crying. After what felt like a year but was really two and a half hours, he got up and turned his computer on and checked his email. Twenty five new messages. all from Fred apart from two. One from sally and another from David. He ignored Fred's emails and read Sally's first.

"Hey Jerry and Fred...no doubt you two are together at this moment in time. ;-D Cant wait for your party this weekend. I hate to say it but David's not coming. He's going out to see his granny in Manchester so I'm coming on my own. David's probably told you already but just in case he hasn't you know know.

I've just got back from getting your presents. They are so cool and I'm dying to give them to you!

Better go. David's taking me to MacDonald's for dinner. Not where i want to go but hey!

He didn't need to reply to that so he read David's email which told him that David wouldn't be coming so all that was left was all of Fred's emails.

He opened on up. And read, "Hey man. I'm sorry I snapped earlier. Do you want to come over and we can go out for dinner or something. Hope we are cool.

Jerry turned off his computer and grabbed his coat and ran down the stairs and round to Fred's house where he knocked on the door and stood waiting. Suzanne answered it. "Hello again Jerry." She said, "Are you ok? You left in a big hurry and you didn't look very happy." "I'm fine really Suzanne. Nothing to worry about. Is Fred still in?" Said Jerry. "Yes. He's upstairs on his computer." Said Suzanne moving out the way so Jerry could get through. He ran upstairs and knocked on Fred door and entered quietly. "Hey." Jerry said. "Hey." Said Fred wiping his eyes. "Got your emails." Said Jerry. "I'm really sorry. I don't know why I shouted." Said Fred. "Why have you been crying?" Asked Jerry. "I hate falling out with you." Said Fred. "Me too." Said Jerry walking forward and hugging him. "What do you you want to do?" Said Jerry. "I promised you dinner." Said Fred. "Oh no that's ok. We could just have your mums pie." Said Jerry. "That's for her and her new boyfriend. I don't like him. He'll be here in like five minutes so I want to leave before he gets here." Said Fred picking up his backpack and putting it on his shoulder. "Oh is the the builder guy or did she get rid of him?" Said Jerry. "No. He's new. I think he's a cleaner or something. I don't listen to what he says half the time." Said Fred handing Jerry his backpack. "Where do you want to go?" Asked Jerry heading for the door. "We'll decide on the way. We have to leave now because he will be here." Said Fred running down the stairs followed by Jerry. "Pizza hut it is then?" Said Jerry. "Yeah why not?" Said Fred. "Hi there Fred." Said a deep slightly rough voice as though his voice was having problems getting through a very tight throat. "Oh god." Muttered Fred to Jerry who then smiled. "What?" Fred asked bluntly. "How are you? Who's your friend?" He asked. "Oh sorry. This is Jerry. Jerry I'd like you to meet Frank." Said Suzanne holding Franks hand. Fred noticed and got angry. "Yeah what ever. We're off out and I won't be home tonight. Bye." Said Fred grabbing Jerry's arm. "Nice to of met you!" Said Jerry as he was swiftly pulled out of the front door. "You too." Muttered Frank confused but soon got over his confusion by giving Suzanne a kiss and then sat down to the dinner she had prepared for him.

"Maybe it's a good thing that I won't be back tonight." Said Fred as they walked into Pizza Hut. "Why's that?" Asked Jerry. "Well, my mum wants to have sex with him tonight and I think she wanted me out the way anyway but she was too shy to say so. You know what she's like." Said Fred. "I see what you mean. We could stay round Andrew's." Said Jerry. "No. He's in Florida for another month yet. Shame he's not at the party." Said Fred. "Yeah, he is the party dude!" Said Jerry sitting down at a table and handing Fred a menu. "Oh no! I can't be away from the house tonight. I've got a friend of the family coming for a few days and I have to be there to welcome him." Said Jerry. "That's cool. We'll just stay round yours." Said Fred. "Yeah ok." Said Jerry. "Can I take your order?" Asked the waitress. "Yeah, can we have two large cola's and two medium pepperoni pizza's please." Said Jerry. "To go." Added Fred. "Why?" Asked Jerry. "We can watch a film and eat it before that guy gets to your's." Said Fred. "Ok. Instead of the two large cola's do you want a two litre bottle or cola as well as the two medium pepperoni pizza's." Said the waitress. "Yeah." Said Fred. "Ok. If you wouldn't mind waiting your order will be ready in half an hour. We are extremely busy tonight." Said the waitress. "Yeah sure. We'll take a walk or something and be back." Said Jerry. "What's the name?" Said the waitress. "Machousen" Said Jerry. "Ok. Thank you sir." Said the waitress walking off and placing the order. "We'll walk around the block, build up an appetite and it would be better if we did something rather than sitting here." Said Jerry. They got up and walked out of the restaurant and round the block. Half way down the road they bumped into David and Sally. "Hey Sally, Hey David. What's happening?" Said Fred. "Nothing much man. Just on our way to MacDonald's for dinner. What you two up to?" Said David in his usual low masculine voice. "Hey Jerry." Said Sally. "Hi." Whispered Jerry. "You ok? You seem a bit quiet." She said rubbing his arm. "Yeah I'm cool thanks. I got your email. Glad your still coming. You can always find me and chat if you ever get bored at the party, not like you would you're one of the most popular girls in school." Said Jerry. "I'm not." Said Sally blushing. "Not just in looks but your very intelligent too." Said Jerry. Sally smiled and went red again. "All right Jerry?" Cut in David after he had noticed Jerry being overly friendly to his girl friend. "Yeah. You?" Said Jerry. "Yeah I'm cool. Been building up my muscles in the gym lately. Getting nice and strong." Said David holding Sally's hand tightly. "Ow." Said Sally as David squeezed her hand. "Sorry." Said David kissing Sally. "Anyway. Our food will be done now so we better go." Said Jerry with a shaky voice as David straightened his head and looked at him smiling. Fred noticed Jerry's shaking hand turn to a fist. So he decided to leave. "Come on man. Later guys." Said Fred grabbing Jerry's fist and pulling him along. "What the hell was that?" Asked Fred after they were out of sight of Sally and David who had started walking again. "What was what?" Asked Jerry. "Do you fancy Sally or something?" Asked Fred. "Yeah. But don't tell anyone." Said Jerry after a moments pause. "You do?" Said Fred absolutely stunned. "Why are you so shocked?" Asked Jerry. "No reason. I thought you didn't like her, your always quiet around her. I'll fix you two up this weekend yeah?" Asked Fred. "No it's ok. If David finds out then I'll find myself six feet under ground in ten minutes flat." Said Jerry. "Do you just fancy her or do you actually love her?" Asked Fred. "I love her so much." Said Jerry, "I think about her all the time. I have a reoccurring dream that she strips in front of me and we make love and we both fell in love and spent the rest of our lives together." "Bit corny that isn't it." Said Fred. "Yeah but that's how I feel." Said Jerry. "Come on. Hurry up. Pizza hut closes soon." Said Fred starting to run towards pizza hut which they could see just at the end of the road. They walked in and got there food and walked to Jerry's house where they chose a film. The were about to watch it when Fred's phone rang. He went out the room and answered it. A few minutes later he came bursting in saying in a fast high voice, " My mum! My mum! My mum!" "What's wrong with your mum?" Said Jerry standing up. "Come quick, mum, help." Said Fred trying to breathe. "Calm down. Lets go to yours." Said Jerry grabbing their things. "Ok." Whispered Fred with wet eyes. "Bye mum. I'll be back when I can. Got my phone!" Shouted Jerry as they both ran out of the front door. They ran to Fred's house and burst in through the front door to find Suzanne on the floor covered in blood.
