My little friend
Is clawing at the window
Buzzing up and down for a door,
It knows it's going to die here in the library,
Because its buddy's skeleton is shriveled and hollow on the floor.
The fly wants to escape,
It wants the outside just on the other side of the glass,
The window so big it shows the entire world,
My little friend the fly
Wants life
But all it can choose is to die.
My little friend the fly,
If only God would have saved him,
If only this world weren't so fucked up,
If only there were no glass,
If only a miracle happened-
But then the joke wouldn't be funny,
Because gods don't choose miracles
When they're watching their little friends die.
