I try to hide

I memorise the details of your eyes.
I visualise your lips upon my own
But when the wind changes, its not as soft.
Your kindness dissolves into the soil
And bitterness arises.

[chorus]
I try to hide, try to fight it,
I bury myself in a pit of dreams
Where my desires can be real
And for that moment
you can be pure

I envision a moment of perfection
I contemplate the chances
But then I realise just how far we are
And my hopeful thoughts
Turn to mere doubt.

I try to hide, try to fight it,
I bury myself in a pit of disbelief
Where my longings are distant
And for that moment
You're lost

I witness your shy and subtle smile.
I question the meaning of its being
But then uncertainty washes over me
And for the moment
I want to cry

I imagine those strong arms around me
I elaborate on chanceless fantasies.
But although the idea is soothing,
The likeliness is limited
To probably nothing

I try to hide, try to fight it.
I bury my self in a pit of hope
Where I allow my thoughts to wonder
And for the moment
I feel fine.
