Shadow's Bane

A handsome stallion born of moonlight
The dream of every mare
With silver coat and blue eyes bright
Spiral horn and flowing hair

Courageous and brave he led the fight
He pulled the victory, time and time again,
From the jaws of Darkness' might
Indeed, he was called Shadow's Bane

His heart belonged to one alone
A golden beauty, daughter of the sun
If only, if only, if only he had known
Then perhaps from battle he would have run

For before he could ask her to be his mate
The Final Battle had arrived
He was to find it was too late
'Twas in this fight that Endowyn died

This time the jaws slammed closed tight
Endowyn stood alone against the Darkness
And as he fought the eternal night
His people flew to safety, bought by the act so selfless

So ends the tragic tale of a noble Prince
He who defended his people no matter the cost
One who has never been matched before or since
The light of Shadow's Bane that is forever lost
