I watched the clouds this morning
As they passed over my head
I thought of you

I saw us
We were happy together
In this dream that I created
The clouds were our castle
The world was our canvas
We painted happiness and love across the land
And then the clouds began to change
Their snowy white became dull gray
It rained
Our cloud kingdom crumbled
The joy we painted streaked
And the water made it gloomy
No longer were we happy
Sadness dominated our lives
The picture in my mind of you and I together
Was no more
You were gone

And I was alone
Wallowing in my own depression and solitude

Tears in my eyes and on my cheeks
Or were those really raindrops?
I smile sadly
That was just a reverie
I turn away from the sky
And tell myself with regret
