‘Now is it me or did you say those things?’ I asked her, ‘Was it all just a dream?’ she shook her head no, ‘Than was it bullshit?’ I asked her. Before she could reply I began to kiss her all over like I used to when we were still together. I started to cry.
Taking her by the hand I lead my pretty over to the mirror in the corner of my bedroom. ‘Look.’ but she did not listen, ‘I said, LOOK!’ I screamed at her, and when I did a flash of lightning lit up the room for a brief second. That brief second was all that was needed so that the girl could see my enraged face, complete with tears.
‘You said we would be together forever…’
As we lay down on my bed, I quickly glanced over at her. Her face brushing up against mine, and I kissed her swiftly on the lips. As my lips pressed hers I felt a surge of heaven. She was an angel sent down to me. I opened my mouth to say something, but the words didn’t come out. ‘What is it?’ she asked me. I smiled as much as I could and whispered into her ear, “Dan and Brittany…” she stared into mine eyes, hers looking like stars. ‘Together Forever’ she stated
‘Together forever, or that is what you told me.’ I looked at her eyed through the mirror. ‘Through the viewing glass, looking in on what we once had.’ I said to the girl, ‘What are you talking about?’ she asked me. ‘Do you hear that, my dear?’ just as she was about to open her mouth, I put my hand over it, ‘I will tell you what you hear. You hear nothing, there is nobody home…It is all over now.’ I said.
‘Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep… I Pray To The Lord My Soul To Keep… If I shall die before I wake… I Give To The Lords My Soul To Keep.’
I stared now even harder into the mirror, ‘We will be together forever…’
I punched the mirror with my bare fist, blood dripped down and touched the dresser, in which the mirror was laying on. I picked up a shard that fell and put her hand against mine. ‘What do you say to soul mates?’ I asked her. She knew what I had in mind, and she let out a scream. ‘I told you before, nobody home!’ So I looked at the shard of glass in my hand, and without knowing it, I looked down after a blink and it was through both of our hands.
With my other hand I picked up another shard. ‘Stars, hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires: The eye wink at the hand; yet let that be, which the eye fears, when it is done, to see….
I blinked for a second…
Walking over to the window it was still raining and you could hear thunder off in the distance. Than the first noises came about. The sound of a crow, the crickets, the sorrow. These were the sounds of triumph as well as the sounds of desperation. As I stared out the window, I looked to the side at my bed and there she was, dreads clotted in red. I looked back outside, ’Shush, she is sleeping.’ I chuckled and thought to myself… One Down, and One To Go… Now I stare off into the heavens, ‘We Are Forever’, and I did not stare again.
