The rain pounded down on the windshield giving no break to the desperate wipers that streaked back and forth in a panic trying to give the person behind it a good view of the road ahead. Still their journey across the glass was fruitless and the glass was battered with heavy raindrops.

Behind the wheel Riley stared at the road in apprehension, her spidery hands grasping the wheel tightly. She was leaning forward, her eyes squinting franticly to find the lines on the road. Again and again she found the car veering to the right, trying to find its way to the right side of the road where she found it no longer belonged.

In a nervous habit she checked the review mirror again, and was again faced with only a white fog which blanketed the back window. She shook her head and gave a nervous laugh; if any cars were coming she would see their lights.

Hesitantly she leaned back in the seat, relaxing slight and letting out a slow breath. Leaning down she flick the switch on the dashboard and Brittany Spear's voice filled the car. With a slight yelp her red nails flicked the tuning to the left and static blocked out the torturing voice.

"Even in England."

Riley suddenly heard an even more unwelcome sound. A loud car horn filled the night air and Riley's head swung up, her eyes widening at the windshield. A pair of headlights was coming straight toward her. She jerked the wheel to the right on habit and went squealing onto the road side. She felt the steering wheel shuddering beneath her hand and the car turned into the grass. With a last thump the car tipped in the side ditch and her head flung back with the airbag.

Trembling, she pulled the handle on the door and fell from the car. The rain beat down upon her shaking body and she scrambled out of the ditch. Mud squelched beneath her feet and she let out a dry sob.

Behind her the car gave a loud moan.

Up ahead on the road side a blue car flashed, its lights flickering on and off. It had stopped inches away from the edge of the bridge Riley had just unknowingly passed over seconds before.

Riley rushed to the car, just as the door opened and a red headed woman scrambled out.

"You!" The woman screeched when she saw Riley.

"I."

"Yes you! What in bloody hell were you doing! What are you American!"

Riley's face turned red, "I - I just moved here and I was."

"You were trying to kill somebody!"

Riley stepped back amazed as the woman advanced. "You stupid Americans thinking you're always right and never at fault! You need to stay in your own country! Kill you own people!"

Shaking her head Riley took another step back, her high heels wobbling precariously.

"I didn't mean to!"

The woman let out an angry growl and Riley jumped backward, her heel catching the edge of the road and her knees buckling onto the bridge side gate. With on last look at the flaming woman she fell backward and into the churning backwaters.
