“No snow yet.”
Squeak.
“Damn. Snow would’ve stopped this infernal squeaking,” A girl glared at the chair she was sitting on; a wheelchair to be exact. Not a fancy one, a regular old thing that made Alex’s hands sore and red.
“You shouldn’t be out anyways even it were snowing,” Toby insisted, taking a lock of his brown hair out of his deep sad chocolate eyes. Alex rolled her eyes, Toby was like a brother -- always looking out for her, all that shit. Alex found it charming at first, but now it seemed like he was saying that she couldn’t take care of herself.
The two -- well, Toby -- strolled down the sidewalk, the infernal squeaking of the wheelchair getting more annoying by the minute. It drove Alex crazy sometimes, so she tried her best to stay in one spot as possible. It was hard for her, though, to be able to do that. A task was always at hand, which involved actually -- moving!
“Hey! Toby!”
Alex’s head turned around to see one of her friends, Elin, coming up to them.. She had a thick wool sweater one -- she had expected this evening to be cold, when in reality it was quite warm. She flashed a grin, and came running down the curb to greet Toby. Elin was picking at her sweater, obviously being hot -- but too lazy to stop and take it off and carry it all the way down.
“Where’ve you been?” Alex inquired, stopping the wheelchair and attempting to turn it around to face Elin. Instead two of the wheels slipped off the sidewalk, off the curb, onto the street. Toby took the handles and then pulled the wheelchair and Alex up on the sidewalk again. Alex looked annoyed, and gave him a ‘I could have done that’ look.
“Flipping off ten guys who wants to be my boyfriend,” Elin rolled her eyes, “nah… just looking for you guys.”
