Alone but Not Afraid

By Polgara the Sorceress

I walk this road of destiny,
Alone but not afraid.

I know that I will find my way,
Someday, somehow, someway.

The birds don't sing along this path,
Nor does the sun to shine.

The howling wind is all I hear,
The silence of it cries.

The blooming buds of flowers,
Will never smell as sweet.

As long as I continue on,
Alone but not afraid.

I can taste the end of my journey,
So close and yet so far.

It lingers on my tongue all day,
And at night it wanders on.

This path was meant for,
For me and me alone.

So I know that I will never meet,
Another living soul.
