The snow was falling; swirling around her as she stood before him in the middle of the street. Their heads were looking towards the heavens as the snow fell on their faces and melt; the streetlamps had already come on and were casting a glow down around their bodies. She looked over at him, his eyes affixed to the sky as he watched the snow falling down around them. She could see him breathing, the breath leaving him as it hit the snow.

Reaching up, she tightened the scarf around her neck to try and keep herself warm. Snowflakes were falling softly on her nose and she wiped them away before they melted on her warm skin. Her cheeks were rosy, warming up the pale colour of her face that was hidden beneath her long chestnut coloured locks. His cheeks were also rosy, and warmed up his pale blue eyes that were watching her as she approached him; smiling.

"You look beautiful."

She smiled, embarrassed, but even if she had blushed you never would have been able to tell. His hands wrapped around her slender waist and he held her under the street light in the mix of snow and wind. She rested her head against his warm body as held her tightly. She smelled like shampoo; it was a smell that was so familiar to him. Every time she was near him, he would smell her body and take in everything about her, just as he was doing now. It was like a postcard in his mind of this beautiful girl.

She looked up from where she was huddled, and smiled at him. Her smiled lit up her entire face, and it was simply her. No one else smiled like her; sticking out part of her tongue as she did. A snowflake feel on his cheek, and she leaned up and kissed it off.

"I love you."

The words appeared to leave his mouth even before it had register what he had said. She watched him; he caught what he had said and for a moment it almost looked like he hadn't meant what he had said, but then his eyes just searched her own for a response. "I love you." She told him, smiling again; sticking her tongue out and squinting her eyes. There was a look of pure joy in her face as the words left her soft lips. She dug her head into his chest and took in his warmth and his arms held her tightly and kept out the elements.

This moment felt like a photograph. The snow falling around them as they stood under the light of the streetlamp in each other's arms. Her head resting on his chest, snuggling in as close as possible. He wanted to remember this moment forever because it was perfect.

And the snow continued to fall, even after they walked inside and curled up before a fire, sipping hot chocolate and warming their chilled bodies. Outside, where they stood only minutes before, the snow had covered up their footsteps and it appeared now as though they had never been under that street light in each other's arms. The snow swirled under the light, falling to the ground and resting in the footsteps of the two lovers that now lay before a roaring fire; melting in each other's arms as snow fell against the window and covered their world.
