With perfect smiles

Stick thin images scream out

Society’s beauty standard

Conformity bleeds

Throughout the pages

Self hate dwells in the mirror

As her reflection appears

Envy flows from her heart

Their perfection mocks her

And she breaks down and cries

Failing to see the beauty within

Not realizing that her smile

Lit up a room

Or how her joy flowed over

Into the hearts of others

Never seeing the love on his face

When he beheld her heavenly beauty

The hope and comfort from within

Which calmed the storm in him

Feeling worthless

She cries herself to sleep

Not perfect according to society

Yet beautiful in the midst of imperfections
