a part of you lingers here

so reluctant to leave its home

it’s always belonged to me

keeping me from being alone

images hanging in the air

before the breath of a sad sigh

blows them onto the pages

that capture your line through my life

a chord of music ever ringing

in my ears now void of your voice

but you know I’ll remember it

the way its slowness made my choice

for once I’m leaving you behind

instead of looking for any sort of sign

that you and I did breathe the same air

and that your eyes met mine

yet sometimes the words blur the line

that we hold between our hearts

so let’s just say it all with one smile

and know how far we’ve come from the start

so this is my unfitting tribute

to something so complex it’s clear

that you and I were meant to be together

and we live for those precious moments when we’re near
