The letter

by: Lilpopcorngurl

S: Jennifer isn’t exactly the most confident girl around. When she decides to write a love letter to her crush it accidentally gets found by her worst enemy who blackmails her. What could be worse? How about the fact that she may like her new enemy?

ACT 1

“I am sorry to say that I am very disappointed in the students in this class.” Mr. Walton started talking about out essays on British history. “With the exception of two students. Jennifer Dean and William Ashmore.” Mr. Walton handed back our papers and on top of them (well mine anyways) was a big fat A. I sheepishly tucked the paper away with all my other A’s.

When Mr. Walton handed William back his paper William glared at me. I’ve been going to this school for a while after I moved here from Vermont. And when I did there was some tension between him and me. Apparently he had always gotten the highest mark in everything. He’s got some jealousy issues considering he’s been trapping me in the hall way and spitting threats at me.

When the bell rang for class to end, as usual I expected William to come up to me and say something mean and hurtful like “you know one of these days you’ll get a big ‘F’ on something and you’ll only have your self to blame.” I could only assume he was implying that he would sabotage my project because that the kind of person that he is.

“You know Dean, guys don’t like smart girls.” William said with a sneer.

I sighed and ignored him as usual so I could get to my next class. I felt a big whack on my back and turned to see Veronica, my best friend. Veronica isn’t like me, she’s so pretty and has lots of friends she’s such a confident person. She makes me feel so mediocre when I am around her.

“You shouldn’t let him treat you like that.” Veronica said.

“What do you expect me to do? It’s not like I can challenge him to a fight or anything. And challenging his wits would just make him worse. Besides I’m totally fine by ignoring him.” I said flatly.

“Do you hate him?” Veronica asked.

“I don’t hate anybody. I just wish he would leave me alone.” As we were walking I noticed a tall figure in the hallway. My face lightened from the stress of having to deal with William. In my view I saw, “Todd . . .” I swooned.

Veronica turned around to see him. She rolled her eyes, “why don’t you just ask him out?”

I gasped looking appalled at her, “I could never do that I’m such a nervous wreck when I’m not even near the boy! You can’t expect me to magically write him a letter saying how much I love and adore him!”

“Love and adore who?” Todd asked.

My eyes were wide open. Sure me and Todd talked but we only talked “my hamster.” I piped. Okay, sure it was more of a “m-m-my! H-a-a-am-m-ster-r-r.” but I still piped up.

“That’s sweet. I’m going to head off to lunch.” With that he left.

“I will not tell him that I like him!” I announced.

“You don’t have to. Write a letter.” Veronica said simply.

“I can’t just write a letter” I told her rolling my eyes.

“Pfft I know you can’t. But I already did so for you.” She rummaged through her bag and pulled out an envelope.

“GIMME THAT! I WONT LET YOU RUIN ME!!!” I cried grabbing the letter easily. A little too easily I should say.

“No worries, I already put the letter in his locker.” Veronica smiled happily.

“VERONICA!”
