Cat in the Cradle

Heart of a lion

More yours than mine

And yet you hold

within that pale hand,

the beating heartstring

of a dragon

and of a serpent.

Is thou satisfied?

Is thou not fulfilled?

So shall you wither

and die if not

for the bloodied

cores that you own.

Your palm trembles...

Can you not bear the weight?

Are the nuclei of our bodies

too much?

Can you not come to the fact

that they are yours

to do as you will?

Is the power too much?

Does it scare you?

Never fear, young one

Though the crimson blood

that covers your flesh,

you are not tainted!

Your hands are not

bloodied by corrupt power.

You hold those hearts with great care

and with great love.

Never fear, young one

We are with you

Through thick, through thin

Through better, through worse

Through life, through death

We are with you

As sure as the sun and the moon

As sure as the silver spoon

We are with you,

young cat in the cradle.
