No Small Wonder

I watch you, you know

Not in the stalker-esque way, mind you

But from time to time, I do sneak glances

I must admit

The way your black strands fall across your face

The crease in your brow when something ails you

The way your nose twitches in an endearing way

The small upturn of your lips when you half-smile

It's a wonder you even sleep

by the way you stay up till the dead of night

trying to finish some brilliant assignment

It's often enough

that people romanticize

the mannerisms of those they are enamored of

But you don't like romanticism

I've heard it from you enough

It's probably a good thing

you can't see into my head

You might just have an urge

to condemn me to the five years

in prison

just for thinking of such things

That in itself is endearing enough

You great prat

It's a wonder I've survived you for so long

You pace, don't you know

When you're overly worried

Perhaps I'm being to particular

to your mannerisms

But it's a way to pass the time

I'll admit

I think you know of my newfound interest

I think you know of my guilty habit

I think you know that I don't feel guilt at all

It's no small wonder that I observe you

Not a bit at all.
