The Battle of the River Mors and the Golden Phoenix

‘Twas long ago, that the dark day dawned

Black clouds filled the skies and thunder rolled

That day the river Mors ran red with the blood drawn

For the Betrayer had no mercy, his heart was black and cold

The fight began like the breaking of a terrible storm

Like two great waves the forces collided for the final time

Soon the riverbanks were strewn with blood and bodies torn

The Betrayer was a sanguinary sight with blood covering his coat and spiral tine

Mid-battle he led the Alliance leaders to a clearing full of flame

There the demon Valdreth turned upon them

And in the end the Dragon King Blarin lay slain

With the dragon’s death a blood flow began that none could stem

It seemed that all was lost

There would be no escaping this terrible doom

Then suddenly then wind blew and waves tossed

The battlefield became quiet as a tomb

Then through the silence an unearthly song was heard

And a golden light shown down upon the fallen king

The body burst into flame and from the ashes rose a golden bird

‘Twas from the Phoenix that the beautiful tune did ring

As the Phoenix rose it sang louder and grew brighter still

Until it became a singing ball of golden flame

As its light touched the Host of Darkness they died with screams vilely shrill

Then Talraz laid the Betrayer beneath the mountains with no name

So Valdreth was imprisoned deep within the now called Forbidden Mountains

And Darkness was defeated; his evil plans had been foiled

After the Sun had shown joy abounded in fountains

But between the Unicorns and Dragons hate now openly boiled

The Dragons blamed the Unicorns for Blarin’s death by Valdreth’s horn

The Unicorns blamed the Dragons for allowing the demon within their midst

Dragons blamed Unicorns that one of their kind had betrayed the loyalty he had sworn

Unicorns blamed Dragons that with Darkness Valdreth had decided to tryst

And so the Alliance was broken by hatred from within

The ancients left Elfyra to go their own ways

Left the world in the hands of their Immortal kin

Who would pass it to mortals in the coming days
