Written June 15, 2003. Sometimes we have spiritual revelations which make our lives a little easier in the end... in this case a visit from the God and the Goddess in a time of need.
--------------
Say happy bride and happy groom,
“Every couple finds its lucky star,”
But alone I sat in my favorite tomb
At the mercy of a screaming guitar
As I sobbed, it drowned my sorrow
I raised my hands to the sky
Not knowing if I dared face the morrow
And I asked the ageless spirits, “Why?”
“What have I done I done to deserve this fate?
Do you not see me kneeling here?
Will you my happiness negate
And leave me, consumed by my own fear?”
In radiant light, Lord and Lady they came
Their faces real and voices true
Took my hand and called me by name
“Sweet child, we would never abandon you.”
“Daughter,” said the Lord, clad in silver and grey.
His face was kind as he stroked by hair.
“Our love for you words cannot say,
But know in joy or sadness we are always there.”
I cried out loud, “But what of this pain?
Why then were you not so kind?
Even as the moon begins to wane
So goes the hope out of my mind!”
The Lady gave me a sad, sweet smile
“My dear, this is no loveless night.
Hold my hand for but a while
And the Universe will put things right.”
I let loose tears as they comforted me
Time, it seemed, went on and on
Finally, through closed lids, light I could see
But when I opened my eyes they were gone
Yet a feeling of knowledge and peace remained
There must be an equal dark for light
Positive for negative, pure for stained
And joyous day for loveless night.
