Selfish as Some

Rainbows and sunshine

What a happy day, watch all the children play

Skipping and laughing and playing their games

I don't' envy them, don't contribute to all the pain

I sit and I stare

The smile creeping upon my despaired face

The scene always makes me happy

To that they're okay

To see what joy there can be

I don't wish I could've been like that

Not saying it wouldn't be nice

But it's happened this way

I've been chosen to deal with this pain

I want them to all have a good life

After all simply because mine is shitty

Doesn't mean everyone else's has to be too

And I know I should be a bit more modest

But I know I am not as selfish as some

And those some know who I mean
